Damien snorted a laugh, "You're kidding me right?" he looked at Kai, "You do realize this is my arrogant self righteous ingrate of a son we are talking about?"
"Damie dear he misses you. He had no idea you and Angela were divorcing. He feels terrible because you won't let him be there for you-"
"He sure feels terrible doesn't he? He cost our family the crown that we worked so hard for, he cost us everything! Everything!" Damien said. He was very upset but maintained his composure well. Kai would be the only one able to read him like a book. The only one he trusted to see his softer side. He let out a breath, any trace of emotion vanishing when a knock came at the door.
"Come in?" Damien called softly.
A female soldier opened the door, her face reddening when she saw Damien shirtless. Kai had been stitching up a wound he had received while hunting humans....a relatively new hobby for him. "Sir..." she looked at her feet. "Sir Eden Dracul escaped. They teleported so we could not trace her whereabouts....."
"Very well. They will have to show their faces eventually. They can't hide from me forever." he sighed, "Dismissed soldier."
"Yes sir." she quickly left the room.
"Anyway," Kai continued, "Your lawyer finalized the divorce this morning. You're a free man, now. You don't need that gold digging tramp."
Damien had to laugh a little. Kai had been around him for years and still thought he was oblivious to the fact that Kai wanted him.... The funny part was, while yes Angela had been a gold digger and had gotten cold feet when Damien had lost the crown, they had been in talks of divorce before then. Because Damien was in love with someone else. Kai.
He met Kais gaze for a moment, gently putting his hand on his cheek. Then he dropped his hand and grabbed a shirt, putting it on as he walked out of the room. Who knew if he would ever have the courage to voice his feelings. Kai had left everything for him. He had let his nephew go to Celestial Being and had left his family to protect his childhood best friend. Damien had no idea how to reciprocate that. None. He went to the library to take a moment to himself, finding a book and getting comfortable. He had given most of the soldiers the day off hoping he and Kai would actually get to talk. But instead he had chickened out. Maybe he could relax and enjoy himself for a moment instead, try to forget....

Unable to focus on his book, Damien took a walk, keeping tabs on where everyone was, what they were doing. He kept his distance from everyone and stayed quiet. He took dinner in his office making a point of avoiding Kai.... Not that he was difficult to find. Luna took notice that he seemed distracted and chalked it off as mourning the destruction of his marriage and the loss of his relationship with his son.She knew how that went all too well.... Logan would hardly speak to her after their last attempt on Jeffrey which had harmed Cecelia and Legatto had warned her if she continued to try to talk to Logan he would launch an attack on Union. She took the warning to heart knowing that Britannia was too much for Union to handle alone. She knew he meant for her to tell Damien as well. To let him know that they knew he was behind it. That his attempt on his son was no secret. Legatto had no idea, though, that Jeffrey had been talking to Kai trying to repair the damage between he and his father. He also had no idea that this type of familial violence was common to the Marquettes, that Damiens father had tried to kill Damien, several times, including at he and Angela's wedding. Or at least they didn't THINK he knew about that.... Luna noticed Kai looking in the cafeteria and assumed he was looking for Damien. She caught up to him, "Is everything okay? Uncle Damien seems really distracted..... He's hiding in his office and he's hardly said a word to anyone today. Its not like him. Especially after that failed attempt on the Draculs..." she said, "Is he really that upset about Angela? He knew she was seeing Laeus behind his back.... Im worried about him...." she said, "Sorry. I know you're busy I just thought you would know better than anyone else. He talks to you on a more personal level than anyone here. You've been best friends for....well forever really." she said, "You look flustered too are you okay?" "He's in his office?" Kai asked, seeming to ignore the rest of her statement.
"Yes... Why?" she asked. He handed her a piece of paper. She recognized Damien beautiful script anywhere.
"Kai we need to talk. Alone. Please. When you find this come find me. - Damien".
"Hm." she said, "I wonder what's bothering him...."
"I'm going to go find out. I will talk to you later Luna dear." Kai walked off to Damiens office.
Damien had assumed that Kai had thrown the note away on accident while cleaning or that it had been lost. He finished his food and started looking at mobile suit specs and making a plan for Kais new gundam..... Kais had been destroyed in their last raid. Protecting him.
"This is ridiculous." Damien said to himself. "I know he's not going to be upset with me...." he knew the only barrier to him conveying his feelings to Kai was his personal hangups about how he would be judged for being in a relationship with another man. He was used to being in the public spotlight and he didn't want to hide a relationship if he was going to be in one.... But he wasn't king anymore. He had no one to impress. The people here respected him as a military leader and a person. They wanted him to be happy, he took good care of them. He let out a breath. He heard a knock he would recognize anywhere.
"Come in." he called, preparing himself to see Kai and tell him everything....
Before Kai could enter the room, Damien heard someone in the hallway yell "Hey faggot you seen your buttbuddy anywhere?"
Damien stood up in a hurry and was out the door before Kai could even reply to the heckling, "I'm right here. And I better never hear that language again or I will have your head." Damien seethed, "Our sexual preferences are no concern of yours."
"Whoa boss I didn't mean-I didn't know- I was joking...."
"It doesn't matter what you know or knew, you shouldn't talk to people in that manner."
"Yes sir. One of the engineers sent me to see about the blueprints for Kais new gundam."
"Tell her I emailed her the preliminary design and to tweak it as she sees fit then to finalize it with Kai and myself."
"Yes sir." he looked between Kai and Damien, "Are you two really-"
"That remains to be seen soldier." Damien said where there usually would have been an adamant no. Kai cocked an eyebrow, looking at Damien as the soldier walked away. "Remains to be seen huh?"
"I believe I asked to speak to to you alone. Which usually infers privacy."
"Into your office?"
"Yes and lock the door behind us."
"Yes sir."
"Kai we've been friends for over a century I hardly think 'sir' is necessary."
"O...Kay... So what's this about?" Kai asked as he locked the door, "Angela I guess?"
"Yes and no.... Sit down. Get comfortable."
Kai sat next to Damien in a chair, looking at him, "You're firing me aren't you."
"Why in the he'll would I fire you?"
"You've been avoiding me like the plague-"
"I've been avoiding this conversation like the plague.... It does sort of have to do with Anfela. At least the reason we divorced. I wasn't completely honest with you."
Kai grinned, "You're seeing someone else too aren't you?"
"No....I wanted to....well WANT to.... And she found out. I couldn't sleep with her. The thought disgusted me. Which is why I suppose she found solace in Your brother.. "
"Disgusted? Really? Who's this other person? Do I know them? Is it-"
"Damn it if you keep interrupting me I'm going to lose my nerve Kai."
"Nerve for-"
"You're the other person. I couldn't sleep with her because I was and am in love with YOU. That's why I wanted to talk to you." |

Seeing as Damien was telepathic, the resounding "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" echoing through Kai's mind was probably near deafening.
Instead of bothering to respond, Kai just leaned over and kissed Damien hard, with near a century of emotion in it.
...........SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Damien kissed him back, at first a little awkwardly but once he relaxed into it he would swear that was the best kiss of his entire life. It probably would have gone farther than just a kiss but he forced himself to break it. He wasn't sure if he wanted to laugh or cry or shout for joy..... He felt like every nerve in his body was on fire.
"I've waited a long time for that." he admitted softly, smiling and planting another gentler kiss on Kais lips, leaning into it a little more, his hands on the sides of his face, and then basically wherever he could manage to put them in the hear of the moment. Kai had him against his desk kissing him when someone knocked at the door.
"Hey boss? Doors locked is everything okay?"
"Can it wait, Thorne?"
"I mean I guess... But..."
"Tell me in the morning?"
"Sure thing.... Have you see Kai anywhere? Engineers are looking for him to finalize his gundam design..."
"Tell them I will be there in a few minutes."
"Okay but where's Kai?"
"I will find him don't worry." He listened as she walked away then laughed and went and unlocked the door, "Shall we?"

Damien walked with him to the hangar. The gundam design was similar to Kais destroyed one but upgraded. The engineer looked at Damien after they had walked through the designs. "You've been kind of out of it today. Are you okay?"
"Never better." Damien said, "I appreciate you working on this so quickly. I'm Sure Luna told you that we are on Britannias shitlist right now." he said, "We will need as much force as possible to defend ourselves in case we get attacked. The Elite doesn't know where we are I don't think so I don't think they're a threat. I'm not sure if Legatto does either but I have more Faith in him finding us than the Elite.... They have their own set of problems. When I tried to get Eden she had a Bandolia with her. He was protecting her....I doubt Kane was too thriller about that. And my understanding is that Lyserg killed Nikolai protecting her, and for some reason when his father went after him Pandora Florencia sent back up for him. So the Bandolias went after the Hellsings. Which I'm sure is a much bigger deal to them than we are considering they were gunning to kill Aerin and Wynter. And Alucard doesn't exactly play well with others...."
"Luna did tell me about Britannia....not about the Elite but that doesn't surprise me. I did hear about Lyserg and Nikolai...not the rest of it though." she said, "We are upgrading the mobile suits as quickly as possible and making sure the gundams are all ready for battle..." She said, then looked at Kai, "Where have you been hiding all day?" she asked, "I was looking all over for you to go over this with you in case you wanted some changes made. I figured if you saw it you could ask Damien to change it up before we started finalising it." she said.
Damien walked over to look at something else.
"He looks a little flushed and so do you...." she grinned, "What did you do to him Kai?" she said, "Did you finally get your way with him? Huh?"
